East Tennessee Employment Law: Your Family Law Attorney
The experts at East Tennessee Employment Law know that dealing with issues surrounding family law can be difficult. Divorce, child custody, child support, and alimony are all considered family law. These are some of the most personal issues that our clients face, and we want to make sure that we can support them through the process every step of the way.
How long will the divorce process take?
There are several factors that play a role in the divorce process. The time that each case takes changes depending on issues such as debt, property, etc. It does not matter who files for divorce first, the result will usually stay the same.
Will I have to go to court?
Sometimes the parties will not have to go to court if a case can be settled outside of the courts through mediation. If mediation or collaboration does not work, then the parties may have to go to court.
How is child custody determined?
Custody depends on many factors – living arrangements, age of children, schedules, emotional and physical well-being of children, etc. It is commonly thought that custody usually goes to the mother but that is not the case. It is preferred that parents get equal time with the children, but each case will be looked at in detail to determine what will be best for the children.
