Do I need an attorney if I am getting a divorce?
Normally both parties consult a lawyer in a divorce case. A case can take anywhere from six months to one year to complete, depending on how many factors play a role in the case.

A simple case can cost around $2,000, and prices can rise from there depending on how complex the case is.
Is everything in a divorce case split evenly between the parties?
Usually it is not an even split between parties. The court will split everything equitably to make it as fair for both parties as possible.
Who usually gets custody of the children in a divorce case?
There are many factors to consider when deciding custody of the children in a divorce case. Age, schooling, work, and well-being all play a role in who gets custody of the children. However, one of the top priorities of family law cases is that both parties get equal time and responsibility of the children.
